On March 20, 2022, AGBU AVC Founding President, Dr. Yervant Zorian, visited His Holiness Aram I, the Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia. Shahan Kandaharian, a member of the "Year of the Diaspora" coordination committee and Editor-in-Chief of Aztag Daily, was also present at the meeting. Catholicos Aram I proclaimed 2022 as the “Year of the Diaspora” in his annual New Year address.

Earlier in the week, Dr. Zorian participated in the first worldwide meeting on the "Year of the Diaspora", chaired by His Holiness.

Speaking about virtual communities and the recent trends in online communication, Dr. Zorian presented AVC as a global multimedia platform for education, communication, and professional development and its great potential for strengthening ties between Armenian professionals and communities.

His Holiness talked about the new reality brought about by technological change, and the imperative of connecting professional people in different fields to the benefit of the Armenian world. He highly commended Dr. Zorian's work and his contribution in this matter.

Dr. Yervand Zorian thanked His Holiness for the invitation to participate as an expert in planning of the “Year of Diaspora” activities and expressed his readiness to further contribute to the upcoming discussions and workshops.
