How are courses taught through AVC?
AVC students learn new material on a weekly basis using multimedia (text, audio, and visual media) lessons and regularly confer with their online teacher and classmates.
In addition to weekly lessons, the students have access to automated study tools, games, assignments, course calendars, syllabi, quizzes, midterms, finals and grade books. Moreover, discussion forums, emails, live chat, audio and video communication options provide the students with the opportunity to better connect with their virtual teachers and classmates, while forging friendships with Armenians from across the globe.
Who teaches AVC courses?
The multimedia courses are authored by renowned topic experts from Armenia and are reinforced by international pedagogical experts in online learning. The learners are supported by online instructors (teachers), who provide distance guidance, drive discussion forums, respond to student inquiries, and grade assignments, midterms, and finals.
What are the types of students at AVC?
1. Synchronous Learning
Regular students for credit will receive five credits for each course upon completing the coursework per the syllabus and guidelines provided by the online instructor during the orientation week. The expected weekly workload for a regular student is 5-8 hours depending on the course.
Auditors are expected to maintain the same schedule of reading as regular students and to take the weekly quizzes. Auditors are highly encouraged to participate in group projects but are not expected to take examinations. Auditors will get a pass/fail grade.
2. The Asynchronous Self-Study Program courses are open for credit and non-credit offerings. The enrollment for ASSP courses is open at all times, on a rolling basis. To receive credits the students must take a midterm and final exam.
Who is eligible to study at AVC?
There are no prior requirements for eligibility. Anyone of any age who is interested in pursuing Armenian Education may enroll. Please see e-Learning and Program offerings for details.
What is AVC Hybrid Program?
A hybrid class student participates in the AVC hybrid program according to the agreement between AVC and the applicant’s school/community. The student follows the lessons in class, under the guidance from the local teacher, and actively participates in various online activities with an AVC online instructor and other hybrid class students. See Hybrid Program for details. For additional information and/or participation contact us at hybrideducation@avc-agbu.org.
